The work of more expensive bulkier punches can be done faster and easier. The tool is designed for overhead work to pre-punch rivet holes in suspended ceiling grids or can be used in any edge application for making holes in window extrusions, metal ductwork, or sheet stock. The compound leverage mechanism provides a mechanical advantage of 8 to 1, allowing one-handed operation. The spring-return handles enable quick set-up for repetitive applications.

The tool is supplied with a 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) punch and die, pre-installed on the tool, as well as a 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) punch and die assembly. Separate punch and die assemblies are also available, including 3.6, 4.1 and 6.3 mm options. The tool steel punches and dies can be changed or replaced on the job site.

A stop gauge permits tool throat depth adjustments from 1/4 to 1-1/8 inches (6.4 to 28.6 mm) for easy hole placement. The tool body consists of a lightweight, die cast aluminum "C" frame head and hardened steel handles and parts stampings with a rust-resistant, nickel plating to ensure long service life.

The maximum capacity of the tool is 24 gauge for up to 2 layers of material. The punches and dies are easily interchangeable, and the tool features a red vinyl cushion grip for comfort and control. The compound handle leverage design provides a mechanical advantage that makes the tool easy to use, even for tasks that would be difficult with more basic punches.
